Long Lenses

HTML clipboardAs we have stated already, long lenses are used primarily for sport and wildlife photography. The visual byproduct of these lenses as you can see left and above, is that depth of field, even when we close down our shutters, is very limited. Our subject is visually isolated, and as such stands out not sharing the photographic space with either the back or foreground subjects. Naturally this can be used as a visual tool whenever you want to focus solely on the subject.

Using a medium long lens and open aperture, the subject have been isolated from the background, it now serving as a colourful backdrop.

Great reason to use a very long lens!
